Introduction:
In the complex tapestry of human existence, the shadows of trauma and unresolved emotional wounds can cast long and heavy burdens on our lives. Here is a guiding light on this transformative journey, and it emanates from the heart of Vibrant Elephant Mindset, founded by the visionary Elizabeth Corey.
In this article, we delve and indulge into the profound healing approach that combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with the V.O.I.C.E. framework, focusing on the "V" for Vocalize, as we channel on a path of self-discovery, resilience, and growth.

Todayās world is filled with plug-ins, notifications, timers, and to-do lists that never end. At the end of it all at times it can be hard to recall the being inside; some of which hold onto trauma.
Trauma is deeply entrenched within the human brain, can cast a long endless shadow; however, there is hope! It comes from a holistic approach that combines movement, mindfulness, and talk therapy.
This article is going to explore the neuroscience of trauma, the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and how integrating these with physical activity can lead to remarkable improvement in health. Within this read, I invite you to step into the power of your own voice and unlock your full potential, creating a life filled with authenticity, confidence, and profound connections. The Cornerstone of Neuroscience and Trauma: Trauma, whether stemming from childhood or adulthood abuse, experience(s), or incident(s) leaves an imprint on the brain. This is oftentimes indelible. Recent advances in neuroscience have allowed us to understand how trauma is stored in the brain, primarily within the amygdala and hippocampus.
These areas of the brain regions play a vital and pivotal role in the processing of emotions and forming memories, which especially in childhood abuse can change the upbringing of the lens of perception of a child into adult years.

When trauma occurs, it can disrupt the normal functioning of these areas, leading to a heightened stress response. The fight or flight mode. This causes more cortisol to be released into the body as well. While causing emotional dysregulations, and a persistent sense of danger.
The Power of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT):
At the heart of healing lies understanding, and CBT provides the key. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a structured, evidence-based therapeutic approach that aims to identify and modify dysfunctional thought patterns, emotional responses, and behaviors. CBT empowers individuals to challenge and reshape negative beliefs, fostering healthier mental states and improved emotional well-being. It's the foundation upon which Vibrant Elephant Mindset builds customized healing journeys.
With its systematic approach to assisting people in reframing their ideas, controlling their emotions, and altering their behaviors, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has become a mainstay of trauma therapy. The foundation of this evidence-based therapy is the idea that our ideas and feelings are linked, and that we can change our thought patterns to change how we feel and behave. CBT gives people useful coping mechanisms and gives them the ability to take charge of their own life.
Elizabeth Corey, The Visionary Behind Vibrant Elephant Mindset:
Elizabeth Corey, the driving force behind Vibrant Elephant Mindset, is a Confidence Coach extraordinaire. With her extensive experience and expertise, she guides individuals towards self-empowerment and holistic well-being. Her signature framework, V.O.I.C.E., serves as the roadmap to unleashing your inner potential and healing from trauma.

Unpacking the "V" in V.O.I.C.E. - Vocalize:
Vocalization is the cornerstone of the V.O.I.C.E. framework. Here's how it works:
1. View Yourself: Elizabeth starts her transformative journey with three fundamental questions:
- How do you view yourself?
- What are the areas you want to grow in?
- Can you communicate where you perceive a problem exists?
This introspective process allows individuals to confront their inner narratives and begin to shape a healthier self-image.
The Role of Personal Boundaries:
Central to the "V" in V.O.I.C.E. are personal boundaries. They are the bedrock upon which healthy relationships and self-respect are built. Let's explore this further:
Defining Values: Healthy relationships are built on the foundation of two independent individuals who honor and defend their core values regardless of the relationship's nature. Additionally, they negotiate and adapt values when collaborating with others (inter-dependent values). This dynamic approach ensures personal growth within relationships.
Asserting Boundaries: Vocalizing your values and boundaries is essential. It involves using both verbal and nonverbal communication to assert intentions, preferences, and to define what is acceptable and unacceptable regarding core values. Communication should be clear, firm, and flexible to maintain healthy boundaries.
Honoring and Defending: Living in alignment with your values, even in the face of challenging life choices or controlling individuals, is the essence of personal growth and resilience. It's a lifestyle, not just a remedy for relationship disputes.

Values and boundaries are a complex interplay of beliefs, experiences, and social learning. They impact both incoming and outgoing interactions, serving as a protective shield and a container for the dynamics of relationships.
The Three Categories of Values and Boundaries:
1. Physical: These encompass personal space, physical touch considerations, and physical intimacy boundaries.
The Power of Movement:
Here is the exciting element: the power of movement. Engaging in physical activity such as speed walking or yoga has been shown to have a profound impact on mental health. Research published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology (Kaitlin N. Harkess, Paul Delfabbro & Sarah Cohen-Woods | (2016) found that stress decreased as women engaged with movement on the regular. Also, anxiety and depression dropped as well.
Physical exercise releases endorphins, which are natural mood lifters and promote the production of brain-derived neurotrophic factors (BDNF), a protein associated with improved cognitive functions and mental well-being.

Simply put, getting outside is better for you! If that is not an option for you; watch this short clip on the Pomodoro Technique and try it in the office.
2. Mental: Mental boundaries involve respecting each other's thoughts and opinions, allowing for independent thinking within a relationship.
Mindfulness as a Practice: Mindfulness, often integrated into yoga and meditation practices, enhances the self-awareness and emotional regulation of oneself. Studies found in the Journal of Traumatic Stress (Holger Cramer* , Dennis Anheyer, Felix J. Saha and Gustav Dobos | (2018) demonstrate that mindfulness-based interventions can reduce symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The study concluded that mindfulness induced relaxation and hyperarousal the opposite of the flight or fight mode; fear. In a nutshell; incorporating more mindfulness into your daily life you will and can enhance the effectiveness of talk therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

3. Emotional: Emotional boundaries are crucial for safeguarding feelings and emotional intimacy. They help maintain emotional autonomy while nurturing healthy relationships.
Energy, Synergy of Talk Therapy:
Talking provides a safe and confidential space to explore and process traumatic experiences, which is what founder Elizzabeth Corey created inside Vibrant Elephant Mindset. Having talk therapy combined with CBT it becomes a powerful tool for addressing the deep-seated traumas.
Studies published in the Journal of Trauma and Dissociation (Ellert R. S.NijenhuisPhD & Onnovan der HartPhD |(2011) have shown that talk therapy can lead to significant improvements in trauma-related symptoms, giving clients and individuals the tools to regain control of their lives.
If you take the outline steps above inside the one section of my signature framework V.O.I.C.E. (V) Vocalize; my promise is the following:
Ten Benefits of Improved Health: Enhanced emotional well-being Reduced anxiety and depression Improved sleep quality Enhanced cognitive function Increased self-esteem and confidence Better stress management Greater resilience to life's challenges Enhanced interpersonal relationships Increased energy and vitality A sense of empowerment and control over one's life
Barely touching on the surface level was the (V) and I want to leave you with a taste for more; inside the (I) Internal we touch on food. Here is a sneak peak of some of the gut-healthy foods; donāt forget that your gut is your second brain!

Four Foods for Holistic Health:
Leafy Greens: Packed with vitamins and minerals, leafy greens like kale and spinach support overall health and brain function.
Fatty Fish: Salmon, mackerel, and sardines are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which promote brain health and reduce inflammation.
Berries: Blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries are packed with antioxidants that protect the brain from oxidative stress.
Nuts and Seeds: Almonds, walnuts, flaxseeds, and chia seeds are excellent sources of nutrients that support brain health and emotional well-being.
