We are almost on the other side of the COVID-19 pandemic now...
Yet, we are seeing that there is research from children who were born during the pandemic going into daycare with 'social skills' below normal. Children are the face and structure of the future, correct?
Then we have the idea that adults are maladjusted from the time the doors reopened and the world started to get back to reality. What is reality today? Is there a normal? Normal never was something, that excited me. Often the podcasts and societal norms that tickled my fancy were the 'norms' the average person stumbled upon during the pandemic stuck inside with nothing to do.
Have been waiting to write and send this out for a little while now; after catching up on one of my favorite shows New Amsterdam and yes, I will admit and only to the season (3) where they are currently inside the 2021 year. It made me realize as they were airing and filming the world in RealTIME; I too was having the same thoughts... 🤦♀️🤦♀️

Now this picture above ... Take a moment and think back to March 2020 ... The start of the global shut down ... What did you phone look like? Did you take the moment to group all of your social media platforms together? Or were they already there?
Personally, mine were there. iPhone had finally put the grouping of applications together out which was a feature for the android users. I was taken the time to do it, which was time consuming; yet made my mine simpler when the shutdown happen.
Social media before March of 2020 was something that I was using; it was where I was spending some of my time for pleasure to browse, kill time (boredom and recipes). Most of my post were on Facebook that was and is the oldest platform that I carry an account on.
Now today, I am sharing my personal information for the facts that are going to follow in my research from the technological impact COVID-19 had on the world so far. In March of 2020 Facebook was the platform I used to scroll, find food to cook, waste time, and SADLY COMPARE MY LIFE TO OTHERS.
BY MAY 2020 - INSTAGRAM: Became a platform to earn money for me.
Now, I still compare, and I go on and off social media... Yet in only a few months the world was changed UPSIDE DOWN!! What does any of this have to do with blackout poetry, social media, me, you, COVID-19????
It is about time we start taking a solid look at the effects of what the future is starting to to tell as the effects of the gloab lockdown are being studied.. Here is the research and report that I have been holding onto...
Title: The Long-Term Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Social Skills and Perceptions of Normalcy
Introduction
As the world gradually emerges from the grip of the COVID-19 pandemic, we find ourselves reflecting on the profound changes it has wrought upon our lives. Beyond the immediate health concerns and economic disruptions, there is growing interest in understanding the pandemic's long-term effects on various aspects of society. In this in-depth blog post, we will explore two key aspects: the impact on children's social skills and the evolving concept of "normal" for adults in the post-pandemic world.
I. Children's Social Skills: A Closer Look
The COVID-19 pandemic had an unprecedented impact on the way children socialized and developed during their formative years. Research indicates that children born during the pandemic or those who spent their early years in isolation faced unique challenges in the development of their social skills.
1. Delayed Social Development
Children are indeed the face and structure of the future. However, due to lockdowns, social distancing measures, and the limited social interactions during the pandemic, many children experienced delayed social development. The absence of peer interactions, playground activities, and face-to-face learning environments led to concerns about the development of crucial social skills.
2. Daycare and Social Skills
Recent studies have shown that children entering daycare after a period of pandemic-induced isolation often exhibit "social skills" below what was previously considered normal. Interactions in daycare settings, while essential for development, may not fully compensate for the social deficits incurred during the pandemic.
3. Potential Long-Term Consequences
It is vital to monitor these children's development closely and provide appropriate interventions as needed. Failure to address these issues could lead to long-term consequences, affecting their social and emotional well-being, as well as their overall adaptation to society in the future.
II. The Evolving Concept of "Normal" for Adults
The pandemic disrupted daily routines, forcing many to reevaluate their priorities and expectations. The concept of "normalcy" itself has come under scrutiny as people navigate a world that is forever changed.
1. Challenging Pre-Pandemic Norms
The idea of a pre-pandemic "normal" is no longer applicable, and for many, it wasn't particularly exciting. Lockdowns and restrictions prompted individuals to explore new interests, adapt to remote work, and question traditional norms. The podcast culture, with its unconventional and diverse perspectives, became a source of intellectual stimulation and inspiration for many.
2. Reshaping Personal and Professional Lives
As we emerged from the pandemic, adults found themselves questioning what they truly valued in life. Many chose to reshape their personal and professional lives, seeking a more balanced and purpose-driven existence. The pursuit of happiness, fulfillment, and meaningful connections has taken precedence over old notions of success.
3. Defining "Normal" Today
In this post-pandemic world, "normal" has become a fluid concept, individually defined by personal values and aspirations. The idea of normalcy is now associated with adaptability, resilience, and the ability to embrace change.
Conclusion
The COVID-19 pandemic has left an indelible mark on society, reshaping the way we view children's development and challenging our perceptions of "normalcy" as adults. As we continue to navigate these uncharted waters, it is crucial to prioritize the well-being of the youngest members of our society, offering support and interventions as needed, while also embracing the opportunities for personal growth and redefinition that the post-pandemic world presents. The future remains uncertain, but our ability to adapt and evolve will be key to shaping a better world for generations to come.
Today's world looks different and that is alright! It is never going to be the same the same; that is part of growth and change. How else are we ever going to accept evolution as the cause and effect.
